Meet the Cast of My Wife and Kids
Damon Wayans as Michael Kyle Sr.
Damon Wayans, an actor, writer, and comedian got his breakthrough after appearing on the show, In Living Color in the early 1990s. His role in My Wife and Kids depicted that of a silly father who was raising his children in a unique but unorthodox parenting style.
After the series was canceled before the premiere of season 6, Damon created a shortlived series, The Underground in 2006. From 2016-2019, he was featured as Roger Murtaugh in Lethal Weapon, a television series created by Danny Glover.
To date, Damon Wayans still tours as a stand-up comic and has also earned credit as a best-selling author as well as an app developer.
Tisha Campbell as Janet Marie ‘Jay’ Kyle
Besides her role in the sitcom, Martin, Tisha Campbell played the role of Janet(Jay) on My Wife and Kids. The award-winning actress and singer have also appeared in other movies such as Little Shop of Horrors, Boomerang, House Party, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and A Different World.
She has earned several awards including four NAACP Image Award nominations and two BET Comedy Awards.
Since the show wrapped up, Campbell has directed two TV series, Rita Rocks and The Protector. Her most recent acting role would be in the 2022 Netflix series Uncoupled.

George O. Gore II as Michael ‘Junior’ Kyle Jr.
Having started his acting career in the 1990s, George O. Gore II joined the cast of My Wife and Kids as Michael Kyle Jr. in the first season. In addition to that, he also appeared in movies like Juice, The Devil’s Advocate, and New York Undercover which earned him three NAACP Image Award nominations between 1994 and 1998.
He also earned a shared BET Award nomination for outstanding directing for a comedy series in 2005 for his work on two episodes in seasons 4 and 5 of My Wife and Kids.
He continued appearing in various projects even after My Wife and Kids ended. Gore has also gone further to explore his writing skills. He has a co-writing credit on Sneakeralla, a 2022 Disney Channel live-action musical.
Jazz Raycole as Claire Kyle
Jazz Raycole was on shows like The Parent Hood and The Jamie Foxx Show in the 1990s before she landed the role of the Kyle family’s eldest daughter, Claire. She appeared on 12 episodes in season 1 before she was replaced by Jennifer Nicole Freeman in season 2.
According to a report by The Christian Post, Raycole landed the role when she was only 12 years old although the producers wanted someone a little bit older. Upon departing, she landed recurring roles on shows like Everybody Hates Chris, Jericho, and The Office.
In 2022, she was featured on the Netflix series, The Lincoln Lawyer as a recovering addict Izzy Letts.
Jennifer Nicole Freeman as Claire Kyle
Jennifer Nicole Freeman took over the role of Claire Kyle after Jazz Raycole’s departure. Freeman worked consistently on several TV movies including Johnson Family Vacation and The O.C. In 2022, she scored the role of Kimberly in the TV series The Black Hamptons.
Parker McKenna Posey as Kady Kyle
The role of youngest of the Kyle brood was played by Parker McKenna Posey. Although her character appeared to be innocent, she often used her charm to manipulate her siblings.
Posey also appeared on iCarly before she started acting in more mature roles. In 2017, she featured in an episode of the TV series, Snowfall and later, Games People Play.
Meagan Good as Vanessa Scott(season 3)
Besides Jazz Raycole, another significant cast that was changed on My Wife and Kids is Meagan Good. She played Junior’s girlfriend, Vanessa Scott in five episodes of season 3.
After leaving the show, Good appeared in movies like You Got Served, Brick, and Saw V. The award-winning actress continued to maintain a steady presence on both the small and big screens. After appearing in Shazam in 2018, it was confirmed by Marvel Studios that she would reprise the role of Darla in the 2023 Shazam Sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods.
Furthermore, Meagan Good has appeared in many music videos of artists such as 50 Cent, Will Smith and Isyss, and Memphis Bleek.
While excelling in her career, Good’s 9-year marriage to DeVon Franklin, an executive for Columbia Pictures and a Seventh-Day Adventist Preacher, ended in divorce in June 2022.
Brooklyn Sudano as Venessa Scott (seasons 4-5)
Brooklyn Sudano took over the role of Venessa Scott from Meagan Good in seasons 4 and 5. The American actress and director began acting in 2003 and so far, has appeared in movies such as Alone in the Dark II, Rain, and With This Ring (2015).
Brooklyn is the daughter of singer Donna Summer and songwriter, Bruce Sudano. Born and raised in Los Angeles, the My Wife and Kids actress married her longtime boyfriend, Mike McGlaffin in 2006 and they share a daughter together.
Noah Gray-Cabey as Franklin Aloysius Mumford III
The character of Franklin Aloysius Mumford III was portrayed by Noah Gray- Cabey. He became a regular face on the show from season 3 to season 5. He was apparently in love with Kady, whom he was always writing about in his songs and poems.
In addition to his acting career, Noah is a classical pianist and has performed at events in America and Australia. He landed the role in My Wife and Kids after the casting director of the show called him to appear as a guest on the show.
Gray-Cabey has also been featured in other movies such as Code Black, and Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. Since 2021, he also had a recurring role in All American.
